CROPPED FOR WEB July 18, 2012 - An 800-square-foot house given to Tom Lee as a reward for rescuing 32 members of the Engineers Club of Memphis in 1925 when their boat capsized on the Mississippi River is now abandoned and boarded up in the Klondyke neighborhood where arsonists have burned several homes. His great great niece Charmeal Neely-Alexander wants to see it preserved or moved Downtown. So far, no one is willing to commit to the cost, but the city is moving ahead to get a state historical marker at the house as a bright spot in an area riddled by crime.
